Chapter Six
Kess
Anal is no laughing matter, it seems.
At least not for Val because he was quiet and dead serious all through dinner. He cooked for me again and bathed me. Iâm not gonna lie, that part I could very much get used to. But heâs been weird about the mating thing too. I asked him more about the Entwining, but he said that it was reversible. Iâm no fool, so I got a second opinion from Dr. Google. And I could not find a single mention of the Entwinement being reversible. What I did read over and over was that a Runnerâonce they join with their mateâwill feel their absence forever. For the mate, itâs merely a sensation like somethingâs missing, but for a Runner, itâs a constant, at times, agonizing ache.
Suppose we truly are Entwined and donât remain together after the consummation, for me. In that case, it will be an awareness of having lost something. Nothing that will impair my ability to live my life to the fullest. For Val, it will be a void that can never be filled. Why would he risk it for something that heâs said he only wants for the duration of our trek to the coast?
I donât want to be dramatic and ask if the prospect of being married to me is so unsavory that heâd rather be in pain for the rest of his life. Iâm not exactly the best person to judge other peopleâs choices since my way of avoiding my problems involves fucking my betrothedâs brother on every surface of a flying camel.
If I had any sense, Iâd call off the plan for tonight. Cut my losses. Iâve already gotten so much from him that Iâll never ever forget. I wonât do it, though. Iâm greedy, and I want him too much. Consequences will come no matter what. I might as well get the most out of it.
âGet over here, Kessina.â My head snaps up at the sound of his voice. Itâs gravelly and dangerous, pure grit. He looks edible in his breeches and no shirt standing on the edge of the bed. Iâm sitting against the headboard, not too far, but not quite within reach.
âWhatâs the magic word, Runner?â I tease as he reaches for me, but I move out of the way, laughing.
âI thought you wanted this.â Oh, I more than want it, but I love to play like this with him. I put my hands in the air and start, ticking fingers off.
âThatâs six words.â
âKess.â That growl is going to end me. I crawl to him. I havenât bothered with clothes tonight, and I imagine what I must look like. His nostrils flare as I approach. He tugs me until his erection is pressed to my ass; I grind into it, rocking into that dick until he hisses from the friction.
âAss up,â he tells me and taps the swell of my butt for good measure. My pussy is constantly dripping at this point. I do as he says, and Iâm rewarded with a rumbling noise of approval that burrows right into my chest.
