Heath walked through the front door of the bar, and his gaze swept the tables to see who was there. None of his crowd was inside, so he guessed it was just tourists. He pushed his wolf down and wore his human persona with pride as he turned his attention to who was serving and who was behind the bar.

Luckily, True was behind the counter, and when Amy noticed him, she called to True, and her head came up. When their eyes met, he felt that spark that only happened between mates. He could have jumped that counter and kissed her until midnight, but that might not have gone down well with the tourist crowd.

“Hungry?” True asked, placing her hands on the counter and eyeing her sexy mate as if she could eat.

“Always,” Heath said with a wolfish smile and hunger in his eyes, but it didn’t look like it was for food. “Can we talk?”

Faith smacked down a tray on the counter beside him and gave him a scowl as she placed a hand on her hip. “Are you dumping my sister?”

“What? No!” Heath growled, looking horrified at the thought.

Faith couldn’t help but chuckle. “Gotcha!”

Heath rolled his eyes. He’d been in human mode and took that swipe on the chin before he even considered who the words came from. He turned in disbelief to his mate, who was chuckling. “Don’t encourage her,” he grumbled.

“Can we talk?” Faith said. “Never a good line to come out of a guy’s mouth,” she whispered as if it was a secret.

“I left my caveman outfit and club at home, but next time I’ll be sure just to toss your sister over my shoulder and have off with her,” Heath said.

“Works for me,” Faith said, brightening.

“I don’t think that’ll work for your sister,” Heath said, turning to True to get her to back him up, but he saw a wicked smile take her lips. He growled inwardly at that sight – now he really wanted to jump the damn counter.

“Could work for me,” True said, shrugging a shoulder playfully.

“See,” Faith said, slapping Heath on the back. “You never know until you try.”

Heath bit down on confusion. Did his mate really like the idea of him being the big, bad caveman wolf? He might need to test that theory. “You’re playing me,” he said to True, and got a whole lot more than he bargained for when she leant in over the counter, her lips a hair from his, and rumbled a little growl.

“Maybe you’ll find out later tonight,” she whispered.

Heath couldn’t have moved if someone had yelled fire and set his jeans alight. He was bewitched – literally. There was nothing he could do to stop the low, deep rumble of desire growing in his chest.

“Down, boy,” True said, running her fingertips under his chin and sending a shiver down his spine, making his jeans tighter at the groin than they needed to be.

“Damn it,” he grumbled, wishing everyone in the bar away so he could have his wicked way with her.
