Omission bias is often at play when we procrastinate on tasks. See, procrastination is essentially an omission—it’s the phenomenon of not doing our intended tasks. Owing to our bias against considering the pros and cons of not doing things, we tend to feel less alarmed by our procrastination tendencies, because technically, since we’re not doing anything, our minds take that to mean we can’t possibly be doing anything wrong.

Our minds reason, “How can we be doing anything wrong if we’re literally not doing anything?” Such is the brilliant “logic” of our mind: bending reason to support our procrastination habits so we get to continue reaping short-term pleasures while remaining blind to the negative impacts of our inaction.
