I need not describe in detail how I helped my poor Sister to safety, & how I hushed the matter up. Suffice it that no body suspected that aught was amiss. But worse was yet to come—poor Georgiana feared that she was with child unwell [?] about to suffer the consequences of her rashness. September went by, & October; it was not until November that she knew that she was safe. The relief was indescribable. Now my concern is to repair her shattered life. She is very young—a mere child; she will, I hope, succeed in restoring her ruined happiness. I hope too that she may one day find peace with another, worthier man.
