Warfare is not really in the physical realm; it’s in the spiritual realm. The focus of our praying, both individually and corporately, must be taking back what the enemy has stolen. He is a thief, liar, and destroyer.

I have to say that praying is the hardest thing I do. It’s easier to prepare a sermon than to pray. It’s easier to write a book than to pray. It’s easier to write a book on prayer than to pray. It’s easier to witness than to pray. It’s easier to picket and write Congress than to pray for those in authority. It’s easier to talk about people I don’t like than to pray for them. Prayer is difficult because there is so much at stake in the spiritual realm.

Paul says, “We win the battle in prayer!” This is not the same as saying, “We will just let God do it.” Some people have confused prayer with passivity. Not so. It means we need to get our priorities straight. The average church spends more time on buildings, budgets, campaigns, and calendars than on prayer and intercession. They have a committee on committees, but no prayer ministry. They have fellowships at the drop of a hat but won’t drop to their knees in worship for extended prayer. No prayer yields no power.

Paul tells us in Ephesians that we are to put on the armor with all prayer. We are to deal with the enemy through prayer. Prayer is our secret weapon. It is more powerful than any military tactic, weaponry, or explosive man has ever created.
