If your grandchild has already been abused in some way, pray that it will all come to light and the proper authorities are notified. Pray that the abuser will be fully revealed, exposed, brought to justice, and forced to pay for what he has done with long-term incarceration and not just a slap on the wrist. Jesus said that for those who harm a child, it would be better if they were dead. He said, “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea” (Mark 9:42). There is an ultimate justice for child sexual abusers that is far worse than anything they will ever receive on this earth, and it lasts for eternity. God does not think kindly of anyone who causes another to sin—especially children.

Jesus was very clear about how much He values children. He said, “Take heed that you do not despise one of these little ones, for I say to you that in heaven their angels always see the face of My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 18:10). He compared the heart of a child to the way we need to be when we come to receive Him—humble and pure. When He spoke about the lost people who recently came to Him in faith, He compared them to little children whom no one should ever lead astray. He said of them, “It is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish” (Matthew 18:14).
