I squeezed the water from my hair with a towel after throwing on a comfy tee and some shorts. There was rain in the forecast, and with how late we’d started our day, I liked the idea of a cozy day inside with Danny. He still wasn’t back yet, so I headed downstairs to peek at some of my negatives from the Ex’s and Oh’s Festival.

I was looking through the focus finder at my first negative strip when I heard Danny’s footsteps overhead. They trailed around the house—from the living room to the kitchen and down the hallway—before they stopped.

“Logan?” His voice echoed down into the basement.

“Down here,” I called.

A few seconds later, he knocked. “Can I come in?”

I crossed the room and opened the door, smiling up at him with a fresh face.

“You lied,” I said, crossing my arms over my chest. “You said you’d be back before I got done showering.”

His shoulders shifted with a chuckle. “I was gone ten minutes, tops.” He stepped closer, leaning against the doorframe. “Why? Were you waiting for me to join you?”

“No.” I quickly shook my head, feeling heat spread into my cheeks.

He stalked around me with a smirk, gawking at my setup. “It turned out great down here. Much less serial killer–looking than the last time I was down here.”

“Ah, then my plan is working. No one will ever suspect a thing,” I teased, shutting the door behind me.

Danny peered around the room. “I thought it was supposed to be dark in here?”

“The safelights only need to come on once I start to focus and develop,” I said, showing him some of the negative strips I was looking at. “I was just taking a look at some of the pictures I got last night. Trying to decide which ones I want to start with. I should probably have a few done to show my parents when they get back with Violet tomorrow.”

“You think you got some good shots?” he asked, leaning over me from behind to observe.

The pressure and warmth of his entire front side resting against my back made my breath waver. “I’m not sure yet.”

His chin brushed my neck as he tilted his head closer to my ear. “Can you teach me how it works?”

“You really want to learn?” I turned around so I could look at him. Something about him taking an interest in my passions lit me up inside.

He pulled back a step and grinned down at the infamous, faded emblem stretching across my breasts—my tattered Guns N’ Roses T-shirt with a torn hem.

I noticed his eyes lingering on my shirt a second too long and rolled my eyes. “ ‘Paradise City,’ ‘Don’t Cry,’ and ‘Patience.’” I counted each title on my fingers, pursing my lips. “Do you need more?”

He cocked a grin and raised a brow. “Excuse me?”

“Weren’t you going to ask me to name three Guns N’ Roses songs?”

“No.” He laughed. “That T-shirt has been well loved. I didn’t doubt you knew any for a second.
