We get into the elevator in the hotel and as soon as the doors close, Ezra places a hand on my chest and gently pushes me against the wall. He brushes his lips over mine, and I pull him in closer for a tender kiss. His hand slides under my jacket to grasp my waist, and I relish in the feeling of finally getting his touch.

The elevator dings, and we separate before the doors open. An older couple enters as we exit, and the woman looks me up and down, giving her head a slight shake. Yeah, lady, I know. I feel as out of place here as I look.

As we make our way down the hallway, I glance around to make sure we’re alone.

“Will you sleep in my room?” I ask him, hopefully.

“Of course.” He looks at me, a bit surprised. “I thought that was a given.”

I smile back at him with relief. It’s crazy how much, in such a short amount of time, I need him with me. His presence and touch seems to be the only thing that can really get me out of my head and make me feel calm.

We enter my room and Ezra heads into the bathroom. I move into the bedroom and sink onto the edge of the bed. What a fucking day. I suddenly feel all of the emotions from the day course through me. Like my body is reminding me I still have shit to deal with and can’t relax. Story of my life.

I close my eyes to try to empty my brain, and feel Ezra sit down beside me. He places a hand on my thigh, and I open my eyes to look at him.

“How are you doing?” he asks, his eyes searching mine for answers.

“I’m good.” I take his hand in mine. “Just hard to relax after a day like that.”

He nods. “I bet.”

“Emma is great.” I smile. “She’s just like you.”

“We get that a lot.” He laughs. “I’m glad you met her. I’m excited to tell her about us.”

My heart rate spikes. “How do you think she’ll take it?”

“She’ll get it.” He gives my hand a squeeze. Then he presses his lips together and looks down. “This sounds so juvenile, but I need to ask.”

“What?” My heart picks up its pace, not sure where he’s going with this.

“I just got thinking about when we do tell my family… and what I introduce you as…”

The corner of my lips tilt up when I realize what he’s asking. “You mean, like… the guy you are with?” I ask and then quietly, and hopefully, add, “Or your boyfriend?”

He looks back up at me and there’s a hope in his eyes. “Yeah.”

My heart is now beating a new rhythm, and dancing with happiness. “Is that what you want?” I ask.

“Yes.” he says, with zero hesitation.

A warmth spreads through my body, in a feeling that I can only call elation. “It’s what I want too.”

He smiles at me and reaches up to place his hand on the side of my face, his thumb tracing my lower lip.
