Zain

There was a crick in my neck and my knee was angled awkwardly. It was hard to breathe with the weight on my chest. My left arm was numb, and the tingling in my right arm told me it wasn’t far behind.

I didn’t care, because Grace was asleep on top of me.

Her entire body was pressed against mine. Her cheek laid on my shoulder, lips just brushing the skin of my neck. Our legs were tangled together, my knee in between hers. If I craned my head down, I had a perfect view of the lush mounds of her chest.

And, of course, my cock was hard as fuck.

A quick glance at the clock on her nightstand told me it was five in the morning. A godawful time to be awake, but she’d fallen asleep early and, since I hadn’t wanted to wake her up, I’d let myself drift off, too. I figured she’d nap for a few hours, but apparently we had slept through most of the night.

Grace shifted on top of me and murmured something. She tried to turn over and nearly fell off the bed, jolting awake. I caught her flailing limbs before she could hit the floor.

“Careful,” I said. “Don’t want you to crack your head open.”

She lifted her head, still half-laying on top of me. Her eyes were bleary from sleep, but they soon went wide. She tried to get up but only managed to fumble around. She would have kneed me in the balls if I hadn’t shifted over in time.

“What time is it?” She dug her fingers into my shoulders to steady herself as she sat up.

“Five a.m.” I winced and rubbed at my stiff neck.

“Did I sleep right on top of you all night?” she asked.

“You sure did.”

She gingerly pulled herself into a reclining position.

“Why didn’t you wake me up?” She rubbed at her eyes and wrinkled her nose.

“Didn’t want to disturb you,” I replied. “You’re cute when you sleep.”

She flushed and looked away, covering her mouth to hide a yawn.

“I can’t believe you let me sleep right on top of you,” she mumbled. “Wasn’t it hard to breathe?”

“Since you feel so bad about it, next time you can let me sleep on top of you,” I teased.

She heaved herself off the bed. I already missed having her body weight on top of me.

“Give me a second to shower and change and I’ll get you some coffee,” she said. “It’s too early to be awake and uncaffeinated.”

She grabbed a handful of clothes from her closet and went into the bathroom. I wished I had a change of clothes. I only had my collared shirt and dress pants from last night.

I stared at the closed bathroom door as the water turned on.

After what had happened last night, after what I’d seen and learned, I had a better understanding of Grace now. I knew the reasons why she acted the way she did.

When she’d told me that her sister had died, I had assumed she had been sick or something.
