Jordan made a left turn onto Richmond Road and headed toward I-271. He loved residing in the city of Beachwood because it was quiet, and crime was at a low. Unlike the life, he’d known as a child. He was raised in a poverty-stricken area of Cleveland, and it was not uncommon to hear gunshots at any time of the day. He recalled growing up and sometimes his parent’s didn’t have enough food to feed him and his brother, so they would eat a slice of bread with mayonnaise on it. However, life changed for him when he was a teenager, and his father passed away after suffering a heart attack. His mother was left with a life insurance policy for $60, 000 and that was their ticket out of the hood. His mother moved them to Cleveland Heights, and she went from being a homemaker to a cook for a hotel during the day, and at night, she worked cleaning offices.

“You missed the exit!”

“I’m sorry my mind was wandering.”

“Umph.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“Nothing at all honey.”

Jordan yielded to traffic before getting off at the next exit. He rested his hand on his wife’s thigh and gave her a gentle squeeze.

“Forgive me for being a jerk I was wrong.”

“Well, I’m under stress too, but you don’t see me treating you like dirt.”

Yolanda stared out the window, and he knew that she was hurt by his anger towards her. I’ll make it up to her. I always do!
