Chapter Eighteen

Noah

“I guess we need to talk.”

The words no man—no, no person—ever wants to hear. But she’s not wrong. Mostly, she needs to talk to the other three guys, but I’m so not leaving. All four of them need to get used to me being a part of their dynamic because I have no intention of leaving. While the four of them are mates, not just with Kensie but with one another—a fact I don’t think they’re aware of—I’m fairly certain that Kensie and Declan are also my mates. I don’t know about Elijah and August, but anything’s possible.

But that means there’s no way they’re getting rid of me. I’ve barely even had time to get to know Kensie, but that’s something I plan on rectifying immediately. Now that she’s confirmed that she and Hayden aren’t dating—something I’d guessed but couldn’t be sure—there’s no reason for me to hold back any longer. Declan, August, and Elijah have a lot of shit to make up for, and while they’re doing that, it’ll allow me time to get to know her better.

“Why don’t we sit,” I offer when no one else speaks. It’s obvious that the four of them are weary of the coming conversation—something I can’t fault them for.

“That’s a good idea.” Kensie nods before dropping into an armchair. Elijah and August sit on one couch while I follow Declan to the other. “So, who wants to go first?”

I snort when the others suddenly become fascinated with anything that isn’t Kensie. “You’re all a bunch of wimps. I know that the four of you have a past and a history that I’m not a part of, but I’m just going to put this out there. I like you Kensie, and I want to get to know you. I feel the same draw to you that I feel to Declan, and I want to explore what that means.”

“You and Dec?” Kensie’s eyebrows shoot up as her eyes flit between the two of us.

Declan takes a deep breath before letting it out. “Not yet, but I feel the same way. It’s definitely something that needs to be explored.”

Kensie is fighting a smile as she nods. “I understand, and I also feel it, Noah. I’m not sure what it means, but I’d also like to get to know you too. But you’re right that there’s a lot between the four of us, and I think it’s time we finally talked about it.

“Before last night, I honestly thought you’d made up the stalker, Declan, and I’m so fucking sorry for that. I should’ve known better, but I was so angry at you. I made you the villain in my head and began to doubt if anything between us was ever real.” She holds up her hand when Declan goes to interrupt her. “I should’ve known better. I should’ve believed in our bond more than that. I just so badly needed to hate you.”

“And you had every reason to hate me. I don’t blame you for doubting me.
