I used to check my email at night right before I went to bed. Looking back, it was a horrible habit to have. Reading an important email right before bed meant my thoughts were consumed by the email. If I didn’t respond to it right away, it would require mental energy to think about it, keeping me from winding down.

The important thing is that you value your night routine. Remember that everyone is different, so feel free to try it out and keep track of your mood the following day.

Another great hack you may want to try is a night journal. A few successful people I know write in a journal every night. They write three things they are grateful for. This is a great way to train your brain into appreciating the things in your life. It also allows you to take a step back and give thanks for the areas in your life that you may otherwise take for granted.
