IT WAS A STRUGGLE FOR Natasha to remember the last time she had been skiing. She was almost certain that it had been with Lucas, and most probably in the Dolomites.

There was just something freeing about the whole experience. The speed of movement, the thrill of getting in the zone when you feel like you’re not even touching the snow with your skis, but hovering millimetres above it. The beauty of the landscapes was another thing. From the slopes of America to the pistes of Japan, you are always guaranteed drop dead gorgeous views.

Natasha glanced over at Lucas, a smile of remembrance curling the corner of her mouth as they got off the drag-lift.

‘What’s that look for?’ he asked catching her in the act.

‘I was just remembering something,’ she replied and turned away, her cheeks warming despite the cold air.

‘That chalet in Arabba, right? The hot tub?’

‘Oh my god! I don’t know what got into me.’

‘I do,’ Lucas chuckled.

‘You know what I mean. It just looked so beautiful up there.’

‘I’m sure that old village lady was thinking the same thing when you flashed her.’

‘Don’t!’ Natasha said with mock anger.

‘Don’t Lucas.’

‘Don’t what?’

‘You know exactly what.’

‘Is it getting hard to resist?’

Natasha shook her head slightly, pulled down her goggles, and gave Lucas a coquettish smile. ‘No.’ She turned and kicked off down the slope.

Lucas watched her for a moment with a grin on his face, then quickly pushed off after her. The chase was on. Observing her ski from side to side was a thing of beauty. Her languid style was full of the grace and confidence displayed by someone who had been skiing for many years.

He crossed back and forth over her tracks to stay out of her view when she looked over her shoulders, trying to see where he was. Natasha laughed and giggled; the excitement of the game made her heart thump. She could almost feel Lucas gaining on her as she dug in the edges of her skis, made a sharp turn, which caught him unawares, before she turned and pursued him.

Lucas was adjusting to pick up the chase once more, only to see that she was already upon him.

‘Got you,’ Natasha said, shouldering him off-piste where they slowly came to a halt, laughing and panting.

‘Yeah, you got me. You’re still a fantastic skier, Nat. Now what?’

She pushed her goggles up on top of her head. ‘Now I claim my prize.’ She threw down her ski-poles, grabbed hold of him and crushed her lips against his. Although it was awkward with their skis crossing over one another’s,
