When I opened my door and saw Gabriel, I wrapped him in a hug immediately.

His strong arms enclosed me in a tight grip, and the warmth of his body against mine took me higher. I found myself practically giddy with joy, and I savored the feel of all of his parts against me—his broad, hard chest, those strong shoulders, that hard, flat stomach and even his firm back.

I started to wonder what he looked like without his clothes and had to shake the thoughts off.

“Come on in,” I said as I pulled away, stepping back so that he could enter my apartment. “Have a seat.” I indicated my couch.

The TV was on, but I didn’t remember what was playing—it was just background noise as I prepared our meal.

It was a bit early for dinner, but I could tell we were both ready for it.

“I’m famished,” he said as he sat down on my couch.

“So am I,” I replied, and I meant for food, but it struck me how famished I was for everything else.

I hadn’t felt this way in so long, and everything that came with it had been sorely missing.

I’ve had meaningless trysts over the years, but no real connection, no lingering, burning passion since high school.

I wanted Gabriel in a way that I hadn’t wanted a man in a long while.

I also knew I shouldn’t move too quickly—I didn’t want to risk derailing our course.

Gabriel obviously liked me too, but what did he really want? Where did he think this would go?

Maybe I just looked like an easy conquest to him and was I not?

Without knowing it, I had been desperate for everything he was giving me; he had responded to some cry I didn’t realize I’d let out.

I prepared our plates and brought the food to the table.

“This looks amazing,” he said, his eyes lighting up in a way that let me know he wasn’t just humoring me. “And the smell…” He closed his eyes and inhaled, slow and deliberate.

When his eyes opened, he fixed me with his blue-green gaze and I started to feel deliciously lost in it while my middle stirred to life again.

“Let’s dig in,” he said.

Fine by me.
