South Bronx was the site of Alec Helenaâs new headquarters. The area had a decades-long string of failed revitalization attempts. Near the center of the wasteland is where Alec had reunited with the son he never knew. The Elite returned to the area to reclaim it â a new collection of neighborhoods were to reflect the celebration of life.
The Andis built a concrete jungle adorned with lush flora to canvass the region. The most complex project was Alecâs tiered pyramid base of operations. Unlike Motherâs infinity-shaped dual nautili, Alec chose to pay homage to the historical stone builders of the Americas.
Alec had a tremendous amount of responsibility. From Michigan to New York and down the coast to the Carolinas, entire cities were emerging. Free labor infrastructure projects near guaranteed vital electoral swing votes. The popular vote was going to be a contested battle as many Elites were being exposed for corruption and other illegal activities. Scandals kept breaking as the election year neared. After key party contributing Elites had fallen from grace, the countryâs two-party system unified under a single pro-human party, The Peopleâs Conservative Party.. The battle between progressive prosperity for all and a backpedaling old guard continued.
Both political parties had failed to integrate Andis. One chose to control Andis and the other chose to empower Andi individualism apart from society. Andis endured the humiliation of being political pawns to discard with after elections were won. Andis had to find their own way along the political process by way of economic demands. If there was one thing congress kept true to, it was increasing their wealth. Lobbying remained steady enough to eventually grant Andis rights and citizenship, but not recognition within the culture.
Alec was familiar with the cycle. Elites continually reported record profits without opposition. Chronic proxy revolutions took place at sporting events, in virtual videogame worlds, with rival neighborhoods gangs, and in ever shrinking households. The numbing agent of complacency was common and often promoted by those suffering from a societal Stockholm-Syndrome. Most people directed their frustration every which way but up.
Standing alone in his office, Alecâs thoughts centered on his father. He recalled that as much as his father wanted to trust the government, corporations, and banks to do right by the people, an overwhelming amount of evidence ran to the contrary. It was during his fatherâs time that the wealthy came out of hiding and began promoting themselves as Elites. The tribalism of sport teams, politics, neighborhoods, and schooling carried over to what Elite one aligned themselves with. Alecâs father saw through it all, calling it, âa disease of the soulâ. Lacking support, his father eventually fell to the machine. After losing his father, Alec moved away with his mother to live with her family. There, he learned to live a privileged life, never looking back and always pulling the ladder up behind him. His father had given him beautiful memories that others tried to tarnish. Although he did not recognize it for a long time, his father had given him direction.
