Chapter Thirteen
Brianna
I held my hand up to knock on his door again, but laid my hand flat against his unit numbers instead. Pissed at the fact Christina was practically living there, I realized I was more pissed with myself. Why did I confess? Why did I open my mouth and tell him that bullshit? I headed towards the elevator, shaking my own damn head at myself. I should have never said anything. Now, he would think of me as a ho, versus the woman that I am—hurt. I was so hurt, so frustrated and so angry, that I had reacted recklessly. I now feared I’d lose him forever. I loved Vince, he was my everything, and now he was going to be a father.
That bitch was pregnant, not me. She would give him his first child, not me. I realized why I got my crazy ass up that morning on a mission to reveal my secret. It was to hurt him. To allow him to feel some of my pain. I wanted him to hurt just as deep. Him getting that bitch pregnant was equivalent to me fucking Brice. See, before, the scales were balanced—I and Vic and him and Christina. Now that she was pregnant, it tipped the scale and it was no longer a level playing field.
If I had lost him for good, at least we’d both suffer. The fact that he knew I fucked another man would give him the exact same headaches that I got knowing that bitch was carrying his seed.
I got in my car and headed to my office. I didn’t feel like going in and I definitely didn’t want to see Brice’s ass. He was a charming motherfucker and I hated him in the office. At his place was a total different story, but around the office, I was always five seconds away from cussing him the fuck out.
And the women … Those hungry bitches stayed grinning in his face. I wanted to tell them starving hoes that for now his dick belonged to me, but I was engaged and he had a wife, so I couldn’t go around checking every loser I saw smiling in his face.
“Good morning, Brianna. Your tablet has been loaded with your appointments for today and you have mediations in Conference Room C in forty-five minutes.”
“Thanks so much, darling. You are always on top of things. I’d be a wreck without you.” I loved my assistant. She kept her ears and eyes opened, but her mouth shut. I adored folks who knew how to mind their own damn business. She never participated in the office gossip and she always ate her lunch at her desk. I’d never even seen her go to the bathroom, even though I knew she had to piss at least once during her shift. She was always at her desk and her seat was never empty when I needed her.
“You’re welcome, ma’am. And I’m sorry, Mr. Holmes did come by looking for you about ten minutes ago, but he declined leaving you a message.
