EXPRESSIONISM

Jamie told me that instead of describing the whole fight with the cyberdroid pack, I should write an abstract. Well, I always thought abstract meant painting imaginary things. You know, just shapes and colors and stuff.

Turns out that abstract also means “summary.”

So here’s my abstract abstract of the fight:

You get all that?

Good.

And of course the skunks won. But Roach knew the skunks would beat his droids. He was just trying to slow them down so they wouldn’t stop the stolen code snippet before it reached his domain.

And he was setting traps.

Until, as the virtual world grew colder and more lifeless, the skunks finally burst into Roach’s domain, milliseconds behind the armored snake.

“Whoa,” Cosmo said, staring in disbelief. “Somebody loves his Tinkertoys.”

“Look who’s talking,” Poppy said. “You’re Captain Tiddlywinks.”

“That’s General Tiddlywinks to you,” he said.

Neither of them was paying attention to the conversation, though. Instead, they were gazing in awe at an infinite three-dimensional framework, empty cells as far as the virtual eye could see.

All exactly the same. Except … impossible.

The beams on the top connected with the beams on the bottom, even though they ran parallel to them, and the corners folded into the wrong edges.
