Flashes of light have sometimes been seen on both the day and night sides of our Moon (see Appendix B6 in this book), but again there are many straightforward reasons explanations to account for these, unless they are impact related.

Moving objects are occasionally seen passing across the Moon, or noticed at its limb. These are almost certainly chance alignment effects, along the line of site, of bugs, birds, aircraft (see Fig. 4), and meteors in our atmosphere, or satellites. Also, if you work out the distances involved, then the speed of passage across the lunar disk (approximately 0.5° in diameter) is always way too fast for large meteorites or impact ejecta at the Moon’s distance, and so therefore must be closer to us. Therefore you can pretty much classify any object that you see moving across the lunar surface through a telescope as a non-TLP.
