Cost of gas. I fill up my car with gas about two times a month and it comes to less than $40 a month. Why such minimal costs? Well, for the following reasons:

Minimal driving. My annual mileage on my car hovers around four thousand miles. If I can walk, I walk instead of driving. In some cases, I even take the train. Besides the financial aspect, driving less also helps to minimize the impact exhaust pollution has on the environment and health. Another sobering consideration: Minimizing driving also minimizes your chances of dying in an automobile accident. I remember some people being afraid to fly after 9/11 where about three thousand people died. Do you know how many people die in traffic-related deaths in the United States? About forty thousand. This is not an anomaly or a one-time event of forty thousand deaths. It is something that happens every year in the United States. Globally, the number is around 1.2 million.
