Finally, we must ask, “Does this experience fit within the confines of a Christian worldview?” If I am a follower of Christ and I win the lottery, I cannot automatically jump to the conclusion that God approves of gambling. I choose this example because I have heard it more than once. The argument goes something like this: “God is in control of everything, so if he did not want me to gamble, he would not have allowed me to win.” The same logic could be applied to any list of vices. One could say, for example, “God is in control of everything, so if he wanted me to be faithful to my husband, he would not have allowed me to meet and fall in love with another man”—another argument I have heard.
