Accessing Form 4 filings

Now that you know how to read a form 4 filing, let us address where you can find them. When it comes to financial information of any kind, it is often best to go to the source of the information. The SEC allows you to pull up all filings by a company (not just the Form 4 filings) from its EDGAR system: www.sec.gov/edgar/search.

Using EDGAR, enter the name of the company you are interested in or its ticker symbol, select the filing category as “Insider equity awards, transactions, and ownership (Section 16 Reports),” and click on the search button to pull up the insider filings for that company. For example, Image 3.12 shows the Form 4 filings for Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL).
