Four

Max was standing, a little out of breath, on the other side of the bed. She looked flushed and beautiful, and Ryker wanted to screw her into oblivion.

“Get over here, woman,” he commanded her.

Max licked her lips, her breath hitching a little, but she held her ground. “Hey, do you think if I kiss you now, I’ll be able to taste Nikolai? I’ve always wondered what he –”

Her taunting words were cut off when Ryker dove across the bed. He grabbed her around the waist, hauling her back onto the mattress. He pinned both her hands above her head with one large fist, then tangled his other fist in the long, thick locks of her hair. He tugged with a little more force than they usually used in their play. “Don’t even joke about that.”

“Or what?” Max asked breathlessly.

“Or you’ll unleash the beast,” Ryker warned her, more than a little turned on. He was hard as steel and wanted in his woman more than anything. He didn’t care about the crowd downstairs or that it was still broad daylight. She was a beautiful, intoxicating menace. And she was all his.

“Hmm,” Max all but purred. She arched beneath him, pressing her pelvis against his. “The beast kind of feels like he needs unleashing.”

Ryker groaned, his dick jumping behind his zipper. “It does. It really does.”

“Kiss me,” Max ordered him, lifting her face to his.

Ryker’s head lowered, drawn to Max like a magnet. But his senses overrode his hormones – for once. He pulled back sharply and jumped off the bed. “Not on your life. Not until I brush my teeth and gargle with mouthwash. If I had a high-pressure hose, I’d use that. But an anti-bacterial solution will have to do,” he grumbled as he made his way into their ensuite. Max’s laughter followed him.

“You’re being dramatic,” she yelled from her prone position on the bed.

“I’m really not,” he muttered to himself as he searched the cabinets.

Max sauntered in behind him, leaning against the counter as Ryker scrubbed his teeth raw. “You never did tell me why you were kissing Nikolai.”

He paused and looked at her, froth dripping down his chin to land in the sink. She didn’t look concerned in the least, and Ryker knew it was because she trusted him implicitly. Still, a little jealousy-induced rage wouldn’t go astray sometimes. He spat into the sink before explaining the situation with Sunny and their hide-and-go-seek game, ending with the liplock. “So, you see. I had to do it. My honour as a paladin was at stake. As was the eternal happiness of our daughter.”

Max nodded her head, sarcasm thick in her voice when she next spoke. “My hero.”

“I am a hero,” he muttered to himself as Max moved away. “A big damn hero.”

He spent a full five minutes sanitising his mouth. By the time he was satisfied that he had erased all Nikolai-cooties, Max was standing gloriously naked in the shower, adjusting the water temperature. Ryker didn’t even need to think about it.
