TO MAKE THE SAUCE

5. While the meatballs are cooking, in a large saucepan over medium heat, heat the oil. Sauté the garlic, stirring constantly, until soft and fragrant, about 3 minutes. Add the tomatoes, broth, basil, water, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until thickened, about 30 minutes.

6. Remove the meatballs from the oven and mix into the sauce. Cover and continue cooking for 10 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through.

7. Discard the basil leaves. Taste and adjust the seasonings, if needed. Serve atop spaghetti.
