Chapter Twenty-Three

She woke with a start, blinking sleepy eyes at the brightness of the sun that greeted them. It didn’t take more than a moment for her realize that while she had fallen asleep wrapped around Liam with him still inside of her, she had woken with Jacob curled up around her. They had obviously swapped places during the night for guard duties and she had been so sound asleep she hadn’t even noticed. It should have bothered her given her training, but she was just too damn comfortable to care right at this moment. Jacob’s delicious scent was invading her senses, while her ass could feel the evidence of his morning arousal. Wiggling her hips against him she was rewarded with a drowsy moan and tightening of the arms around her waist. She wanted to turn around and press hungry lips to his, but his hold just tightened every time she moved to the point where it was now becoming difficult to breathe.

Smacking his hand to wake him up, she chuckled when he woke with start and sat bolt upright, looking around wildly and asking where the danger was while running a hand through his usually well-styled hair, which was currently in a blond mess around his head. A chortle next to her had her swinging her head around, this time cursing at her own inattentiveness, not noticing that someone sat on the other side of her.

Her eyes clashed with Samuel’s bright blue orbs full of mirth at both their expense. “You two are adorable when you wake up and also very funny. Bro, you should see your hair!”

Jacob gave him an evil stare while trying to comb through the thick, wayward locks with his fingers in a vain attempt to try and restore some order to his normally neat style. He gave up with a grunt when it quickly became obvious that it was a waste of time and that both his woman and brother were laughing at his struggles. With a sheepish grin he reached over and mussed up Sable’s long lengths while she unsuccessfully tried to bat his hand away.

Their early morning fun was interrupted when Sebastian called through their hive mind. “Supply run has just arrived. There is fresh fruit, bread, pastries and coffee.”

At the mention of coffee, all three of them scrambled to their feet and Sable shifted to her wolf form, streaking past them in a blur of red. Coffee was her one indulgence, and she couldn’t remember the last time she had imbibed on the nectar of the gods. She wasn’t going to risk getting there too late and missing out.

She only just got there before the dragon-men, who were fast on their feet and could almost keep up with her wolf. She went straight to the fire pit, and through her wolf, sniffed at the coffee heating in a pot over the flames. It smelled heavenly, and although her wolf grumbled at the smell, not understanding her human’s infatuation with the stuff, Sable couldn’t wait to get her hands on a cup.
