Groaning as they encountered Osgar immediately on entering the Hall, Cuthbert grabbed Benedict's arm and led him away from where the dark-haired Catalyst had stood. His younger charge was in a semi-daze, blinking owlishly after Osgar Swithin's rigid back.

“Just ignore him and remember what I said earlier,” Cuthbert whispered urgently. Both Landyn and Troye had said it might be a good idea to let Benedict attend the festival because if he was made to feel isolated, he just might close his mind off further to them all.

“But,” Benedict felt Osgar’s anger inwardly, and it hurt, his senses being bombarded with conflicting signals from all around him until he no longer knew what he was picking up. Voices were vibrating in his head, hurting...

“Osgar is angry with me, not you, so just ignore him. Besides, if you try ignoring him for long enough, you might just find he'll come over and talk to us.” He winked at the Nyx, striving to take Benedict's mind off things. “I've done it before to him, and believe me, it worked eventually. If there is one thing Osgar Swithin hates, it is being ignored.” He chuckled, remembering the time they had argued over the incident. It was a cherished memory now.

“I'll try.” Benedict released a breath, trying to focus only on Cuthbert and his feelings. It was amazing, but as soon as they entered the room, he felt as if he was being pressured by everyone around him. It was an invisible force, and he wondered if it was his supposed Vigor again. It was as if he was listening in to all the private, personal voices around him and in the room, and it became oppressive as they all fed him their jumbled thoughts. Ever since he had woken up from supposedly cracking the Palace foundations, he had noticed how easily he had been distracted by vague thoughts from others, and the sensation had only gotten worse.

Like a weight around his neck, and he shuffled tiredly behind Cuthbert as a cold sweat broke out against his skin. It was getting difficult to breathe as he distantly heard Cuthbert introduce him to someone. Sounds around him faded in and out as he looked around, desperate to escape the Hall suddenly. He couldn't hear, couldn't see...couldn't think... He spied an open door and wondered if he had the energy to make it over to the beckoning gloom of the outside. In the extreme back of his mind, he heard a strong, commanding voice, but he lost it as Cuthbert shook him.

Someone else approached him and shook his hand, and he attempted to smile as the waves of anger, fear, and resentment washed over him repeatedly. He felt the disgust all around, crowding him; as more people turned to eye him, he was left with little doubt as to whom all these frustrated emotions were aimed. They all hate me, despise me. They all want me dead.

Even Osgar... His mind felt raw as another awareness touched the peripheries of his mind again.
