“No way,” says Margo. I do not pay attention to her.

But I do not know how I will make Rufus disappear. I sweat.

I hold the sides of my cape with my hands. I wiggle my arms around to warm up. I am still holding the cape. But my right hand is stuck. It will not wiggle.

I yank my cape harder.

Everyone watches me. I yank my cape harder. It is still stuck.

They all stare. They watch me yank the cape. It is stuck on the cage. But they do not know that. They think I know what I’m doing.

But I do not know what to do. Maybe I will say the extra fancy magic word. Then, maybe, Rufus will magically disappear! For real!

Yank! Finally, my hand is unstuck.

I cover Rufus’s cage with my cape.

I say, “One, two, three, abracadabra-poof!” I open up my cape. Glitter flies out from my cape pocket. That’s my secret pocket. I stapled it on to the cape!

When the glitter settles, all that is left is an empty hamster cage. Rufus has disappeared.
