GARY: All right, I’ve got one for you. Who murdered President Kennedy?

ARTEN: If you knew, would you forgive them? That’s the real question. We didn’t come here to get you chasing shadows in the world, brother.

GARY: You can’t blame a guy for trying. Oh, before I forget, I thought of another oxymoron for you.

PURSAH: Let’s hear it.

GARY: Smart bombs.

ARTEN: Very good. I agree.

GARY: Let me see, what else? Oh yeah, I saw Marianne Williamson on TV again. She has her second book out, and it seems to be mostly about feminism. I saw her give a speech on another network where she said, “What the world needs is more fierce women.” Now, I love Marianne, but I was wondering, would you say A Course in Miracles has feminism in it?

PURSAH: Marianne is certainly entitled to teach feminism, if that’s what she wants. There’s nothing wrong with it, but it shouldn’t be confused with the Course. The Course doesn’t need women teachers to teach other women how to be better women. There are thousands of teachers doing that, and they’re welcome to. What the Course needs is women teachers who are willing to teach other women that they are not women — because they are not bodies. That would make a unique contribution, if the point was made in no uncertain terms.

ARTEN: Gary, I should point out that you’ll be in the same situation we are when it comes to people reading your spoken words without being able to see your facial expressions and hear the tone of your voice and get your attitude. People might not know from the words you’ve spoken so far that you actually have a good attitude toward women. In fact, haven’t you always considered them to be more intelligent than men?

GARY: I think it’s pretty clear they are. They’re less violent, more nurturing and they vote more intelligently. A lot of us men are just macho dick brains.

PURSAH: You’re not — entirely.

GARY: That's right. I stand as a glorious and inspiring example for all of the world to emulate.

ARTEN: We’ve created a monster! Incidentally, you’ll soon be entering a phase of your earthly life where you’ll begin to be a little less concerned with bodily adventures and a little more concerned with accomplishments — in your case, spiritual accomplishments. Many men are preoccupied with physical pleasures in the earlier part of their lives, but as they begin to get a little older, their pursuit of sex is replaced by something else.

GARY: Erectile dysfunction?

ARTEN: No. It’s something called maturity. We already know you’re a lot more mature than your ego defense system would care for you to act. But you’re beginning to snap out of it. As the body ages, you tend to be less ruled by your hormones. That’s just one of the reasons why people who are a little older tend to do better with A Course in Miracles.
