Strong and the IPCC exploited fear with threats of impending doom due to global warming/climate change, but they also exploited the lack of knowledge about science and especially climate science. Governments, eager to be green, unknowingly introduced policies to reduce greenhouse gases that are undermining the developed nations as effectively as terrorism.
The title of Vaclav Klaus’ book Blue Planet in Green Shackles succinctly summarizes the broader problem, which he summarizes as follows; Future dangers will not come from the same source. The ideology will be different. Its essence will nevertheless be identical: the attractive, pathetic, at first sight noble idea that transcends the individual in the name of the common good, and the enormous self-confidence on the side of its proponents about their right to sacrifice the man and his freedom in order to make this idea reality. What I had in mind was, of course, environmentalism and its present strongest version, climate alarmism.
There is no scientific justification for any energy or economic policies designed to reduce greenhouse gases or stop warming or climate change. CO2 from human or natural sources is not causing global warming or climate change. Beliefs that it is are solely the product of the IPCC and their computer models, an agency and approach set up to mislead the world. Yes, as Sir David King said: global warming is worse than terrorism.[131]
One of the qualifications on my resume now is “Environmentalist”. Indeed, it is a title everyone can put after their name. We are all environmentalists to greater or lesser degrees. It is an outrage that certain people and groups have usurped this title and implied that only they care about the environment. While this book outlines the role of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in manipulating climate science, it did this within the cloak and dominance of environmentalism as the new paradigm in the western view of the world.
The message the IPCC pushed suited the environmentalists. It enabled them to hide their activities from the usurped moral high ground of saving the planet with scientific “proof”. They could isolate those who dared to question the science as anti-environment or paid by the oil companies who were the cause of the major problem of climate change. While this happened, politicians were convinced by the bureaucrats representing their country as members of the IPCC. Politicians were easily bullied because they didn’t understand the science and wanted to be ‘appear’ green.
Primarily due to the actions of the IPCC, nobody tested the scientific theory that human CO2 caused warming/climate change known as the Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW). Rather, Maurice Strong set up the organization through the UN to perpetuate the unproven theory. They designed the IPCC mandate so they only looked at human causes of climate change, but the media and the public believe they are looking at natural climate change in total and scientifically. Rules guaranteed the message to the media; they created the illusion that they practiced and accepted only peer-reviewed science. Donna Laframboise and others exposed this falsehood[132].
