Mariah and the Seductive Spirit Guide

Mariah, a married mother of three, came to Barbara Bartholic in late 1985, following a harrowing love obsession two years after a UFO abduction experience. Mariah was referred to Barbara from a local psychologist who knew about Barbara’s work with alien abductees.

Mariah’s case involves classic alien abduction medical exams, a miraculous healing, automatic writing, telepathic messages from otherworldly beings, and contact with a spirit guide claiming to be the deceased country singer, Jim Reeves. A love obsession ensued between Mariah and the spirit guide. This, combined with the constant contact with channeled entities, drove Mariah over the edge until she broke down and received psychiatric help. Had it not been for Barbara, Mariah might not have survived this ordeal. She expressed deep gratitude for Barbara’s compassion and support.

This case is not for the faint hearted. The emotional/psychic vampirism and psychological instability caused by all this escalated to such a level that we are really talking about demonic possession.

That alone is an important reason why this case stayed in the dungeons of secrecy until now. Most of the UFO community, and especially the New Age crowds, would not allow it. In fact, during the early 1990s, when Barbara tried to discuss this case at a UFO conference, she was scoffed off stage by a well-known disclosure speaker. He refused to believe that “malevolent reptilian ETs exist.” For many, their attachment to benevolent space brother ET contact belief systems are too firmly affixed to their egos.

Mariah, her husband, and Barbara are all deceased, and this is the only reason I can now tell this story, using pseudonyms to protect the surviving family members.

This story needs to be told as it unfolded.

When I received this case in 1999, Mariah was 59 years old, married, and a mother of eight children. She was of Cherokee and Irish descent, very intelligent, and multi-talented. Her first anomalous event occurred at the age of five, following a fall in which she broke her leg and jaw. During the fall, she became aware of being embraced by a warm white light.

Years later, a doctor who examined her asked, “How could you have walked around in so much pain?” The physician showed her an X-ray of her neck. It showed how some of her vertebrae were fused together where her neck had been broken. For some reason, Mariah had been able to function with a broken neck without much notice.

At age ten, Mariah’s tonsils were removed. Before the procedure, as she was receiving ether, she saw herself lifted from her body by a beautiful golden light. She saw beings who took her by the hands, called her by her full name and said, “We have been waiting for you.”

Oddly, the facial profiles of these beings were in the shape of a question mark. They wore what looked like black skullcaps over their heads, giving the effect of a widow’s peak hairline. Later in this story, as we shall see, Mariah encountered these same beings
