Choosing your foods is the first step toward a health-first lifestyle, but the way you prepare those foods is just as important. Deep-frying causes food (french fries, chicken, chicken strips, onion rings, etc.) to soak up free radicals and lose nutrients. There are much healthier ways to cook your food. Stir-frying is a good method since the food is cooked so briefly that it retains most of its nutrients. Simply use a small amount of organic extra-virgin olive, coconut, or macadamia nut oil. Grilling is also generally safe. Use a propane gas grill in place of charcoal or mesquite, which contain dangerous toxins. Place the vegetable or meat rack as high as possible away from the flame. If meat cooks over a flame, the fat drips off the meat and into the fire, which turns it into steam. The pesticides in the fat char into the meat so that even greater amounts of carcinogens are formed. Avoid charring meat since it contains a chemical called benzopyrene, which is a highly carcinogenic substance. Scrape or cut off the char.
