Being back in Hell after our mission was bittersweet. We saved at least fifty humans and sent fourteen new-bloods to a rehabilitation center run by the Order of the Void. Carmilla was in charge of it, and it made me feel better knowing it was her instead of that fucking angel.

"You did outstanding work," Dad praised us as we walked into the throne room.

I huffed, kicking my bare feet at the heat of the clay floor. "Viktor wasn't even there."

"But we saved the remaining humans and new-bloods," Kai pointed out.

"And you killed Ravana. She was apparently the head of that facility, according to Mortala," Dad said.

"Why did we just learn about her then?" Thaddeus asked, still gripping his healing side. There was still a glaring slice in his skin, but it had healed mostly.

When I was turned from a human to a vampire, I'd thought the healing capabilities were great, but I'd learned that with bigger wounds, it took more time. My demon half increased my healing, and I was fucking thankful for it.

"Mortala said there seemed to be someone who was giving orders, but he had thought it was Viktor until right up before you met with him. She revealed herself by killing two new-bloods that Mortala and Priamos were guarding," Dad said.

A sickening chill went down my spine. "She had a morphing ability for making her flesh a weapon. She slashed Thaddeus's side pretty good. It’s still not fully healed."

Dad rubbed his face before calling on Gabriel, and I stiffened as he appeared in front of us, looking as put together as always.

His first reaction when someone important in Hell got hurt was to call for that damn angel. I guess him killing me didn’t sway that habit. I supposed him thinking Thaddeus worthy enough to be healed was a step in the right direction, but bitterness slithered through me like a virus.

"How can I be of service to you, King Zelek?" His eyes cut to me as he smirked.

Fucker.

"Thaddeus was injured." I stepped closer to Thaddeus and put my hand on his shoulder. "Can you heal him so we can get on with the bigger mission?"

"We need to take Viktor down as soon as possible before he gains enough powers to break back into Hell," Dad said with a tone of urgency in his voice.

Gabriel's white eyes narrowed on my hand, and I dropped it. The eyes that had held so much warmth several millennia ago held nothing but coldness now. And I caused that.

I better do well to remember that.

He stepped forward and waved his hand over the wound. I watched the light stream from his palm as the wound stitched itself together. Thaddeus's entire body relaxed, and in seconds, the wound was completely healed.

"Thank you," Thaddeus said in a gruff voice.

He needed more blood.

Gabriel nodded, his gaze shifting back to me.

"We need to split up the clan to take down the major rings. We’ll recruit the demons from the torture chambers in the heart of Hell," I said, clearing my voice.
