“Reah!” Scooby agreed.

Shaggy skidded to a halt. “But not that way!”

Their path was blocked by six zombies!

Scooby tapped Shaggy on the shoulder. “Not that way either!”

Shaggy turned to see six more zombies behind them. They were surrounded.

Shaggy and Scooby hugged each other and trembled as the creepy monsters shambled closer and closer.

CHAPTER 4

CAPTIVE AUDIENCE

“Wait here,” Fred told the people in the meeting room. “We’ll get you when it’s safe.”

Fred, Daphne, and Velma left the room to find Batman and Batgirl putting handcuffs on the last of the knocked-out fiends.

“Wow,” Daphne said. “You really took care of those zombies.”

“They aren’t zombies,” Batman replied as he pulled a rubber mask off one of the fiends. An ordinary man lay there. “Just hired henchmen.”

“What did you find?” Batgirl asked the gang.

“Someone has the convention guests working on solving another mystery,” Velma reported.

“What mystery is that?” Batman asked.

“Your identity,” Fred replied.

Batman’s lips tightened. “I think I know who’s behind all this.”

“Really?” Daphne asked. “Who?”

Batman opened his mouth to reply but was interrupted by a dozen zombies shuffling down the corridor.

“Jinkies,” Velma said. “That’s a lot of zombies.”

The Dark Knight clenched his fists. “Not a problem,” he said, marching toward the fiends.

“Find someplace safe,” Batgirl added before joining Batman.

“Good idea,” Fred said as he backed away. He led the way as they moved back down the hallway.

Unfortunately, when they turned a corner, three more zombies blocked their path. They appeared extra spooky with the emergency lights flickering off and on.

“Jeepers,” Daphne said. “This isn’t someplace safe at all.”

“Come on, gang,” Fred said, stepping forward. “There’s three of us and three of them.”

Velma grabbed a nearby table with wheels. “I think it’s time to play bowling for zombies!” She pushed the table ahead of her as she ran toward the zombies.

Fred and Daphne grabbed a couple tables of their own. They pushed them alongside Velma as the three of them raced toward the waiting zombies.
