Consequences of premarital sex

Sixty-nine percent of Americans say sex between an unmarried man and woman is morally acceptable, up sixteen points since 2002. In addition, 42 percent believe sex between teenagers is morally acceptable.

However, we should note: Since this revolution began in the 1960s, the youth suicide rate is the highest it has been since the government began collecting such data in 1960. The percentage of children born out of wedlock has escalated from 8 percent in 1962 to 40 percent today. The odds that children in single-parent homes will live in poverty are high.

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are another consequence of sex outside of marriage. If people remained virgins until marriage and remained faithful to their spouses in marriage, there would obviously be no such diseases. The fact that, at this writing, STDs have reached all-time highs for six consecutive years in the US points to the medical consequences of rejecting God’s plan for sex.

Such consequences extend not only to those who engage in unbiblical sexual activity but to the babies such activity can produce. At this writing, more than sixty-two million babies have been killed by abortion since Roe v. Wade. This tragic fact is relevant to our discussion since 86 percent of abortions are obtained by unmarried women. And it leads us to our next section.
