Chapter 9
Rachel
I parked in front of Elliotâs apartment building and texted him. Tension knotted my stomach, and my hands were ice cold even though I had the heat on high.
The last two days had been excruciatingly awkward at the office. I still couldnât quite wrap my head around the fact that Iâd let Elliot go down on me in my office on my damn desk. Of course, every time I stared at my desk, it was an excellent reminder of just how good heâd made me feel.
I took a deep breath and tried once again to shake the memory of Elliotâs face between my legs right out of my head. I could barely concentrate on my work, and I didnât know what upset me more - my fear that someone would find out what I did with Elliot or my inability to do my job efficiently.
I should never have let Elliot do that at work, and I didnât know what the hell I was thinking.
You were thinking youâd never been so damn horny in your life and that the way Elliot takes control is the hottest fucking thing youâve ever seen. So hot, in fact, that you were willing to toss away your entire career in exchange for having your PA tell you what to do in bed.
I closed my eyes and banged my head on the steering wheel. My inner voice was entirely correct, and the worst part was - I wasnât confident I wouldnât keep risking my career for sex with Elliot.
Which sounded ridiculous, even to myself, but the orgasm in my office had been the best fucking orgasm of my life. After nearly seventeen years of so-so sex, one romance book orgasm had me craving more of what Elliot was so good at giving me.
Lost in my thoughts, I almost screamed when the back door opened, and Elliot tossed in an overnight bag and draped a suit bag over it. I sucked in another deep breath and tried to smile naturally at him when he climbed into the front seat and buckled his seat belt.
âHey,â he said. âHow did your four-thirty meeting with Morris go?â
âI didnât fire him, if thatâs what youâre wondering,â I said. âNot even the Ice Dragon would be so cruel to fire someone right before Christmas.â
He grinned, and my stupid pussy practically begged me to ask him to eat me out again. I ignored her ridiculous request as he said, âI didnât think youâd fire him, but the meeting went longer than I thought. Sorry, I left right at five.â
âYou donât have to apologize for leaving at quitting time.â I pulled out onto the street and headed for the freeway to take us out of town.
It took us nearly twenty minutes to get out of town with rush hour traffic, even on the freeway. As the streetlights got farther apart and the traffic thinned, I tried to pretend that the awkward silence between us wasnât awkward at all. The sky was clear, and the roads were dry, but I almost wished for a snowstorm.
