Here is a view showing an empty Oro Dam Railroad fill train heading back from the dam. It is crossing to the north side of the Feather River and will shortly go under the Upper Thermalito Bridge. It can be noted that the fish hatchery dam is complete and there are signs that the fish hatchery itself is starting to be built. This photograph was taken on May 6, 1964. (Courtesy of CDWR.)

This photograph from May 6, 1964, shows the borrow area located just southwest of Oroville. When compared to the view that appears on page 10, it is clear that by this date, the borrow area has been well worked over by the bucket-wheel excavators and draglines. (Courtesy of CDWR.)
