“Hey, Maddie. I really need your help.”I said as I stumbled in, trying to avoid their glares,“I got a real asshole hounding me, and I need your help.”

It was the first thing that popped into my head, completely untrue, but that’s fine.

“Someone is harassing you?”The man who could only be Axel spoke. His tone was frightening, and I wasn’t sure if it was normal.

“It’s not a big deal, I just was hoping to leave…”

“No, it is a big deal. Who the fuck is harassing you, I’ll tear their throat out.”

“Axel, calm down, hun. She can take care of it, can’t you, Sophie?”

“I’d really just like to leave, Mad.”

“Well, that’s no big deal, call a cab and I’ll pay for it. See you back at the apartment, okay?”

“Apartment?”She meant dorm room, and I knew it. She was just trying to look cool for the older man she was trying to impress.

I wasn’t buying it, but I had no back up.

“I don’t, I mean…”

“Axel. Meeting. Now.”The bark of orders came from behind me, but I knew the voice immediately. It was the man who I met earlier. Bryce.

“Dude, seriously?”Axel asked, but I could tell by the look in his eyes that he screwed up as soon as he said it.

“Now.”It was all Bryce had to say, but the power behind his voice traveled through her, to Axel, and he immediately fell in line, weaving through the two of us and out the door, following Bryce.

Even Madeleine stood, gape mouthed as we watched those two men walk away.

She was shocked, but I was angry.

I told him not to interfere, and he did it anyway.

Who the hell was he to do that?
