No employee is going to be right for every job, and it takes a lot of thought to define exactly what sort of person you seek for a post and to recognize that a particular candidate is perfect—or really isn't. Anyone who has ever hired someone will tell you that it is a humbling experience, and the constraints of the nonprofit world make it no easier. Arduous as it can be to select an employee, that's just the beginning. Then there's the work. Like any company, a nonprofit is only as good as its employees. Their energy, along with yours, will make it what it is.
