MAJOR VS. MINOR ARCANA

THE TAROT IS DIVIDED INTO TWO SECTIONS.

The Major Arcana, or “trump cards,” are considered to be the most important.

The Minor Arcana cards deal with the more day-to-day energies in a reading.

The tarot is divided into two sections. The major arcana refer to bigger life moments and to the big energies that thread through your readings.

When you look at the Major Arcana cards in order of their numbers, you’ll see that they follow close to a life’s journey. The Fool (number 0 in the cards) represents a person starting on the journey of life—full of hope, promise, and naiveté. By the end of the Major Arcana—number 21, The World—the Fool has been through a lot and is changed.

But at the end, he has gained the whole world and the wisdom that follows. Major Arcana cards in a reading signify big things.

Though important, the Minor Arcana cards don’t represent huge change or upheaval. They are great for looking at the smaller ways you can change a situation, as well as how to change your attitude.

Together with the Major Arcana, the tarot is an amazing, complex system that can give you the insights you are searching for!
