The first Soviet anti-tank guided missile, the AT-1 Snapper, used manual command to line-of-sight guidance, with a wire link to transmit guidance commands to the missile. It was too large and heavy for a man-portable launcher, and so vehicular launchers were developed. The first of these, the 2P26, was a modified UAZ-69 light lorry and entered service in the late 1950s. It was sometimes referred to as the "Baby Carriage".
