“You’ll never regret it, Whitney. I swear,” he vowed. “But if you tackle that staircase again without assistance, I’ll take my belt to your sexy ass. Do you understand me?”

She nodded as he rolled off her and the bed and helped her to stand. He toed his boots off and kicked his jeans free before leading her into the bath. He took his time as he washed her, being careful of her tender backside. In turn, she ran her soapy hands all over his body. They took their time getting ready for the event, and he led her down the stairs.

At the bottom, she introduced him to their guests, all of whom had made a sizeable donation to be here. First up, a tour by horse drawn carriage of the vines themselves, then a tasting of Earthly Spirits wines, bread, cheeses, and olive oils.

Each time she left his side, Jameson kissed her before letting her go. There would be no doubt in anyone’s mind as to the state of their relationship. And she didn’t care. Let them wonder; let them gossip. Jameson loved her and that was all that mattered.

She left him to ensure the final preparations were made for the lavish dinner under the canopies they put over hardwood laid directly on the beach. There was space for eating and mingling, as well as dancing to the live jazz band Jameson had insisted on hiring.

“You look happy,” said Laura with a grin. “When I heard him bellow, I was a little bit afraid you’d have trouble sitting or walking.”

“I’ve gotten used to the walking part but sitting isn’t my favorite activity. I hope you’re ready for a full court press from Ian.”

“Did you finally agree to marry him?”

“Not exactly, but I did tell him I loved him and that I believed him.”

“Never stop believing, Whitney. No matter what happens. Never doubt for a minute that you and Jameson belong with each other.”

Laura was called away by her staff before Whitney could respond. The dinner went off without a hitch and it was obvious the guests were enjoying themselves. Although not happy about it, Jameson seemed to accept that she needed to mingle with people other than him. After several hours, Whitney had wandered away from the music and the crowd to just be alone for a moment. She wanted to savor the feeling of the success of the event and reflect on her proclamation of being in love with Jameson Sinclair.

“Ms. Morrison?” said Mitchell Dunlop, a vintner from the Finger Lakes area of New York. “I just wanted to congratulate you on a marvelous event.”

He took her hand in his and raised her fingers to his lips.

“Thank you. Please, call me Whitney. I appreciate you coming out tonight. I know Monterey is a long way from New York.”

“It is, but if it means I get to spend time with a beautiful woman like you...”

Whitney laughed. “Mr. Dunlop, are you flirting with me?”

“Mitch, please. And if you have to ask, I’m losing my touch,” he said, not relinquishing her hand.
