If you remember, we talked about George Soros and his amazing short of the British Pound when I was talking to you about fundamental analysis of currency. This is the chart of the British Pound during that short. It hit 2.0000 and suddenly fell at the beginning of 1991, sending their currency into the danger we previously talked about. They tried to buy it back and get it up to where it needed to be, but selling kept dragging it back down. That’s the rise in the middle of 1991 and 1992. Finally, England said they were determined to make sure their currency wasn’t devalued. They started buying as much as they could, trying to bring it back up to that 2.0000. And as you can see, it meets its old-time high and selling just becomes too much for it and it drops off a cliff. If a government can’t fight the trend of the market, you need to make sure that you never try, because if you do, you will end up probably far worse.

But what is the trend? I mean, it seems pretty straight forward, but are there any rules?
