YOU’LL NEED:

Vanilla Swirl Cake (see recipe)

Simple Vanilla Buttercream (see recipe)

1 lb. package of ready-to-use white rolled fondant

Confectioners’ sugar and cornstarch, for dusting

Gel food coloring

Vodka

Makes one 8-inch layer cake

VANILLA SWIRL CAKE

2¾ cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

2 cups granulated sugar

5 eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1½ cups buttermilk

Gel food coloring

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease three 8-inch round cake pans, line the bottoms with parchment paper, grease and set aside.
