Other countries made considerable use of the M.S.406, or at least tried. Poland ordered 160, of which 50 had been sent but not received by the time Poland fell. The rest were then sent on to China, but ended up in the hands of French colonial forces in Indonesia. Thirty were sold to Finland, which added more than 50 captured by the Germans in France and used them against the Soviets. The latter were soon re-equipped with captured Russian 1,100hp engines, which produced a major improvement in their performance.

France continued to build Moranes in the unoccupied portion of the country, and some were operated by the Vichy government in the Middle East. A few others were converted into M.S.410s with major wing modifications, and flown by the Croatians.

Overall, the out-dated and underpowered M.S.406 provided good target practice for its enemies.
