Faith Forensics

Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they were put to death by the sword.… The world was not worthy of them.

How has your faith been developing in recent days, months, or years? Maybe it hasn’t been developing so much as decreasing.

Maybe you feel like you’re running out of time and the sun is sinking low. Maybe you’ve adjusted your expectations to believe that God is no bigger than the accomplishments of your human effort. But I believe God wants to raise the stakes on your faith.

So many Christians live in a state of chronic and perpetual discouragement. Things don’t seem to be going well, and we don’t expect anything miraculous from God. So we hold on to our faith like a Snuggie. Or we swallow it like an Ambien just to help us get some sleep.

Sun Stand Still faith isn’t like that. Sun Stand Still faith looks at a situation that seems hopeless and finds hope. I don’t care what you’re dealing with today. It’s not more difficult than what Joshua faced. And it was child’s play for God to stop the sun over Gibeon. There’s always hope.

Faith is not a drug to sedate you through a life you hate. It’s not a magic pill to make all your problems go away. It’s a force to transport you to another realm of reality.

A lot of people use faith as a coping mechanism. Faith is not a coping mechanism; it is your weapon of mass destruction to win your spiritual war. The purpose of faith is to change your situation for the glory of God.
