Rework and Scrap Loops—Step 7

By default, quality issues and reworks are problems, so they should be added later. But at this point you want to get a feel for what the numbers are. Once you know, you can decide whether it is too much and what you can do to stop it. Try to identify numbers and a cash equivalent. The cash equivalent should include personnel-hours wasted to the point where it is scrapped and any personnel-hours wasted by people waiting downstream for the parts to do their job. If an hour of production time is lost, how many units could have been made in that time? You can work this out when you get to issues.
