Chapter 3
I had finally convinced her that I wasn’t a waste of time, and she agreed to have dinner with me. I sent my car to pick her up and bring her to my penthouse apartment. My nerves were frayed thinking about whether she would find me too young and amusing. What I wanted was for her to take me serious, look on me as a woman would look at a man and not some love sick boy. I met her in the lobby when my driver dropped her off. We road to the twenty-fifth floor in silence with my eyes on her as she stood with her head high allowing me to admire her seductive beauty.
We entered my apartment and she stood in amazement looking around, “You weren’t kidding when you said you were rich. But what do you want with me?” She said uncertain of my intentions.
“I want you to sing for me. Just me,” I said leading her by her hand into the dining room. I sat her at the table across from me and my servants brought out the first course. She knew how to use all the silverware settings before her. We began with our cold potato soup. She didn’t ask why it is cold because she knew already.
As the dinner ended and she waved off desert, she glanced at me with a raised eyebrow and said, “Tell me what you really want from me.” Her eyes locking with mine, her long lashes hiding her big brown eyes lit with a golden glow.
I didn’t know how to respond to such a direct question so I blurted out what I was thinking. “I want you to stay with me. I want you to sing for me and only me.”
“Is that all. That isn’t unusual. Most of the male customers who come to the club would like to pay me to sing for them.”
“And what do you tell them?”
“I tell them no,” she said to me her eyes full with shades of amber her lids slipping down over them.
“What if I offer you more money than you could ever have in a lifetime just to let me hear you sing and only for me?”
“I would still say no. Do you think I’ve never been offered money before? ” Anyone that beautiful and sexually attractive had to have many men offer her a lot more than I could.
“What if I asked you to marry me?”
“I would consider your proposal, and still say no.” I walked to her and took her hand. I want to show you my home. She glanced at me and walked along with me. I brought her to a room where I had my piano and I sat and began playing it. She was a singer and she couldn’t resist singing. I stood and eased beside her and leaned in to kiss her, and to my surprise she let me.
“You don’t kiss much do you?” She said to me.
“How did you know?”
“Because you don’t know
