People won’t partner with you if they can’t trust you. The best way to earn that trust is by being an authentic version of yourself online, not trying to portray what you think people want to see. That’s where smart social media strategies come into play.

Many entrepreneurs, consultants included, focus on “seeming” as opposed to “being.” In other words, they focus on the image they portray—not on actual lived experience. Instead of just seeming like this incredibly successful or knowledgeable person, which can be exhausting, focus on providing value in exchange for your audience’s attention. The easiest way to attract and engage quality followers is to think of ten questions they have, then create content that answers those questions. Does this sound familiar? That’s because you already did it earlier in this chapter when you read about creating a blog post. You can now repurpose your blog content as a social media post. Here’s an example of how you could do that with the “Five Questions” article by creating a post about it on LinkedIn.
