Nolan glowered down at the water from the back of the boat, trying to pull his mind away from thoughts of sliding Imogen over his body and filling her deeply. Need for her pounded in his blood, which made him even more furious. The closer they drew to finding Lily, the more imperative it became that he not become distracted. And Imogen was one big fat distraction with a capital “D.”

She’d looked…Nolan’s fist clenched the coffee cup so tightly he was surprised it didn’t shatter in his hands. When she’d wandered out of her cabin, her wet hair in a riot of curls around her head and her skin freshly scrubbed clean, he’d almost reached for her right there. He’d wanted so desperately to back her up against the door to her cabin and take a taste of her sweet lips. Well, not that she ever had sweet words for him. But he’d imagined her kiss would taste sweet. Cursing long and low, Nolan narrowed his eyes at a movement in the water.

Just a fish, coming to pluck a piece of seaweed floating at the surface. He’d been ready to unleash magick on the poor thing. Nolan blew out a breath and turned, taking in the view of Kilronan Harbour. Grumpy McFaeFace she’d called him. Was he grumpy? Sure, and he was a bit tightly wound at the moment, but who wouldn’t be? One of the sweetest women he knew was being held captive, and it was his job to help find her. It was normal to be tense under these circumstances…Nolan glanced up when a cheerful whistle caught his attention.

Seamus strolled to the back, a navy knit cap pulled over his red hair, his eyes dancing when he saw Nolan.

“That was some fantastic French toast, mate. Thanks for cooking.”

“What are you so cheerful about?” Nolan all but growled.

“I’m just…” Seamus narrowed his eyes at Nolan’s face. “Sun is out. Had a good meal. I’m feeling positive we can make headway on finding Lily today. It’s all good, right?”

“And your needs were met by your woman,” Nolan clarified.

“Also that, but I’d like to think I had a good hand in meeting her needs as well.” Seamus smiled and wandered to the edge of the boat to peer into the water.

“This is why couples shouldn’t go on quests. They ruin the vibe.”

“Is that right? Seems we were pretty successful on the most important quest in all of Fae history. In case you forgot?” Seamus turned and raised an eyebrow at Nolan.

Nolan grimaced. The man had a point.

“I’m just…”

“Grouchy? I heard.”

“Grumpy, I believe was their word. Listen, should we go have a look around? See what’s what?”

“I believe that’s what the ladies were planning to do. Ah, here they are now.” Seamus beamed as the women joined them on the deck and dropped a kiss on Bianca’s lips. Nolan averted his eyes, annoyed for some reason with their easy affection, and instead looked out to the quiet harbor.

“We’re going for a walk,” Imogen said.
