Chapter 6

Chrissy

When I woke up, we were sitting in front of Hotel Contessa.

“Where are we?” I asked, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I checked the time and realized it was well after three in the morning.

“We’re in San Antonio, shorty. Come on. Let’s go check in,” he said coming, around to open my door for me to get out.

After we were all checked in, I was blown away by the room. The scenery was absolutely beautiful. I walked out onto the balcony to get a better view and, again, I was just amazed. I was a person that loved to sightsee and, although I hadn't been many places before, I cherished the places I had been privileged enough to visit. I felt Corey’s presence as soon as he approached the balcony.

"This view is gorgeous," I gushed as I sat there overlooking the River walk. It was so nice and peaceful out here. At this very moment, I had no problems and my life was perfect. After about five minutes of me living in a fantasy world, I opened up my eyes and remembered I was back in reality.

"Why did you bring me all the way out here?" I asked, confused as to why he had just drove two in a half hours to bring me to a hotel when there were plenty of nice hotels right there in Houston.

"I love being out here. It gives me a peace of mind," was his response. We sat there in silence for a moment; I guess both lost in our own thoughts. I know I was thinking what ifs, but I had no idea what was on his mind. Luckily, he broke the silence first.

"I'm going to ask you something, and I want you to give me the God’s honest truth," he said to me.

"Shoot," I responded.

"Could you leave that life alone for me?" he asked with pleading eyes.

"Corey, don't start that shit. This is the way I get my money, man. You already know this. Why the hell are you acting brand new?" I questioned, getting irritated off the rip because he was starting his shit already.

"I can't do what I want if you can't stop the shit you’re doing, Chrissy," he explained.

There it was. I was confused yet again. Corey and I had a real relationship. We could talk about anything and we were always very blunt with one another. It was no reason to stop now.

"What the fuck are you talking about, Corey?" I asked. He asked me to take a seat so that we could talk.

"Look, Chrissy, I have been feeling your ass for some time now, but I can't rock with the way you get down. You have never betrayed me and I trust you no doubt, but I can't bring you into my lifestyle if you carry on the way you do," he admitted all in one breath. I was a little offended that he had said what he just said. He was a married man, so I really didn't understand this shit and I was going to let that be known.
