Chapter Seven- Dani-Lee
I turned on my back for like the hundredth time and I removed Kenyaâs hand from off my face for like the millionth time for the night.
Why in the fuck did kids sleep so fucking bad was beyond me. This little girl must be dreaming she was a stunt double for Jackie Chan or something. I got kicked in my ribs, poked in my eye and slapped in my face.
My ass about to be black and blue in the morning. On top of having to deal with Kung Fu Panda over here I just couldnât seem to fall asleep for shit.
I sighed in irritation as I dug under the pillow my head rested on and took out my cellphone.
âGreat.â I mumbled when I saw it was 1:00am. Itâs now officially Christmas Eve and we were still stuck out here in this God awful snowstorm at this Bed & Breakfast. A bitch couldnât catch a break for shit, all I wanted to do was go home and lay in my own bed.
Smack! Kenyaâs palm landed right in my face and I contemplated just going to sleep on the floor at this point.
âYou know what.â I mumbled under my breath and threw the covers off me, pouncing to my feet. I stood at the side of the bed and looked down at Kenya as she slept soundly, her body twisted like a pretzel, and I shook my head.
It was clear I wasnât going to get a proper rest tonight. Snapping my fingers, I remembered she had her tooth under the pillow. Searching through my handbag I found a $20 bill, sneakily took her tooth out and replaced it for the cash.
Smiling triumphantly as I looked at the tooth wrapped in a napkin, I wondered what I should do with it. I decided to go to the kitchen and toss it in the thrash and once I was down there, make myself a cup of hot chocolate.
Biting into my lower lip as I studied my attire of Adjoniâs boxers and his white vest with no bra, I decided I would risk it because nobody would be up and about at this time of night.
Adjusting the covers around Kenya and kissing her forehead, I made my out the door. Giving Adjoniâs door a quick glance I scowled in annoyance as I remembered our unpleasant encounter earlier.
After our last blowout we avoided each other like the plague, hardly making eye contact and trying to have little to say to each other. Honestly, all I was trying to do was communicate with Kenyaâs daddy earlier but in true Adjoni fashion everything was always about him.
Quietly I walked down the stairs and made my way to the kitchen. The house was dark with the only light coming from the Christmas trees and their twinkling colorful lights illuminating the room.
Once in the kitchen I powered the electric kettle on and tossed Kenyaâs tooth in the thrash. Searching the cupboards, I found a box of Swiss Miss and smiled when I saw it was the one with the marshmallows.
